MULTI-DWELLING UNIT
DESIGN | PLANNING APPLICATION
Year / 2006 . Location / Loulé _ Portugal . Project Area / 2000 sqm . Status / not constructed
The land where this project was intended is located on the outskirts of the city of Loule where the surrounding buildings are very low traditional houses with small patio entrances. Local planning authorities allowed construction of an apartment building up to four storeys which clearly didn't integrate the landscape.
Lowering the building height was the first priority in designing this project.
A house that divides the property was the perfect pretext to split the construction area into two independent buildings. Different typologies were studied to assure a better relation with the surrounding architecture, which meant abandoning the apartment option and fragmenting the buildings into several independent houses.
